Watchung Open Space and Recreation Plan

The purpose of the Watchung Open Space and Recreation Plan is to guide the future development of the Borough’s open space and recreation system. The challenge in Watchung is that the Borough is essentially fully developed and the public saw no opportunities for additional open space resources. The Heyer, Gruel & Associates firm worked with the community to identify existing vacant parcels, existing private recreation facilitates and future areas for open space or recreation acquisition. The Plan was prepared through an extensive public outreach process that included public meetings and coordination from the Borough’s Recreation and Planning Department. The ultimate result was a comprehensive planning document for the Borough which addressed its park and recreation.
