Hudson County Master
Plan Re-Examination Plan
The
project involved a comprehensive reexamination
of the Hudson County Master Plan that went
far beyond the statutory requirements and
examined climate change and its effect on
Hudson County communities. The Plan concluded
that only a holistic approach to development
patterns, transportation system investments
and economic development policies can improve
the local environment and positively affect
global conditions. This Plan also incorporates
the policy implications in the N.J. Global
Warming Response Act and the endorsement
of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate
Protection Agreement by Hudson County Freeholders.
Recommendations contained in the Master
Plan served as the basis for amending the
County Subdivision and Site Plan Review
Ordinances. The Plan also looked at various
development components through a different
lens, such as thinking of the urban forest
as an important component of the infrastructure
network, which is a more holistic approach
towards development and redevelopment in
the County.
